Regional Process Engineer

Job Description
The Regional Support Process Engineer will work closely will the NA operations team to
understand top issues and top projects. They
will align with the plants to understand top needs that will help the plants
meet their financial commitments. The
Regional Process Engineer will provide assistance and leadership to the NA
operations team. The Process Engineer
will help plants resolve top scrap and efficiency issues, drive process
methodology change, evaluate technical talent.
The Regional Process Engineer will
travel extensively (75%) to support all NA facilities. They
will work to support the injection molding facilities through hands on floor
support activities. At the same time
they will work towards developing the people, processes, and procedures used in
our operations as it relates to the injection molding process. In addition the Regional Process Engineer
will help develop and implement best business
practices and training for the injection
molding operations.
Training;
- The Regional PE will be responsible
for working closely with the Lead Process Engineer and corporate trainer to
develop appropriate training material for the injection molding operations.
Processing :
- The PE will be expected to
work closely with the technical development
team to implement and sustain a
common processing strategy. The PE will
need to be fluent with scientific
molding principles, eDART, pressure transfer, and 2 /3 stage molding
techniques.
- The
Process Engineer will work with the plants to evaluate processing issues,
determine appropriate corrective action, advise on the action plan, and execute
when necessary. The Process Engineer
will be able to setup experiments and analyze the results of the DOE's in order
to resolve issues at their root.
- The
PE will also be responsible for issue resolution at the plant level. Specific projects will be assigned at a plant
level with the expectation that the PE will manage the plant contacts, collect
appropriate data, spend time on the floor with the processes to understand the
issue, and ultimately come to a resolution.
- The
PE will be responsible to be a root cause problem solver. When solving processing issues the PE will
apply a logical methodology and will use data where possible to make the best
decisions.
- The
PE will be required to develop, implement, and roll out YFAI best business
practices to all NA facilities.
- The
PE must have strong documentation and communication skills. Upon completion of a regional level project
the PE will be expected to document project findings and prepare a report that
will share lessons learned with the plant technical staff and when applicable
share these findings with all NA plants.
Automation:
- The PE will have extensive experience
with a wide range of robotic part handling systems. The PE will be required to perform robot
optimization through hands on programming. The PE will also be responsible for assessing the NA operations and make
recommendations for process improvements and training requirements as it
relates to automation.
- Training
will be provided to the Process Engineer in this area as needed.
Tooling / Capital:
- The Regional PE will have a working
knowledge
of tooling and the requirements of a successful tool / process
combination. They will also be
expected to understand the YFAI tool prove out process.
- The
Regional PE will need to work with the plants to identify capital improvement
opportunities and develop justification. When applicable the Regional PE will need to write an appropriations
request, follow the request through the approval process, and help the plant
implement.
Your Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Plastics
or Mechanical Engineering and / or 10 - 15 years process engineering and plant
operations experience. - Seven to ten years experience specifically in injection molding process engineering with solid tooling
experience. - Six
Sigma Green or Black Belt preferred. - Analytical problem solving
skills. - Ability
to work together as part of a team and the ability to gain respect of the
plant operations teams. - Ability to communicate to all levels of management.
- Desire to be very involved on the plant floor.
Must have demonstrated "hands on" problem solving
skills. - Ability to work long hours and weekends when needed.
- Exceptional
understanding of injection molding processes. - Exceptional
understand of mold change requirements.
Experience performing mold changes and the use of SMED methods. - Extensive
hands on experience with injection molding equipment, robotics, and auxiliary
equipment. - Proven
mechanical aptitude for problem solving. - Proven
process and tooling engineering excellence in the automotive industry.
