EHS Manager

Job Description

Common
Duties and Responsibilities: Implement, oversee, and adapt
policies and programs to improve organization´s environmental and safety
performance, ensure it complies with current and future internal and external
regulations and standards, and protect its reputation. Manage EHS activities
to ensure the organization complies EHS regulations as well  as Internal
EHS policy and requirements.

 

These activities may include monitor EHS
performance, identify risk or areas for improvement, conduct and manage EHS
audits and on-site inspections to identify work place hazard. Manage
Investigation of EHS Incidents, prepare reports and recommendations, Implement
waste management programs, Develop and drive EHS trainings, manage
relationships with community or EHS stakeholders. Research, evaluate and
recommend changes to improve EHS performance. Provide expertise and advice on
EHS issues to area managers and plant manager. Maintain relationships with
the community, EHS groups, or other stakeholders impacted by the EHS
performance of the organizations. Stay current with EHS regulations so
organization´s EHS policies remain current relevant. Lead, direct, evaluate
and develop a team of EHS professionals. Is responsible for Occupational
Health service and Safety Management System to ensure correct standard is
provided to all employees in alignment to YF EHS culture, law and YF
requirements.  Responsible to implement
program such as the YFAI Business Operating System and YFIMS to eliminate the
risk of occupational injury and illness, and environmental non-compliance in
a manufacturing environment. Operating Systems (BOS) which are designed to
minimize the physical and financial exposure resulting from potential,
alleged or actual on-the-job injuries/illnesses, and environmental
compliance.  

 

Main Responsibilities

  1. Prepare & implement EHS&E systems & procedures
  2. Prepare, provide  & evaluate EHS training
  3. Initiate projects to improve EHS performance
  4. Ensure that EHS is integrated in projects
  5. Communicate with contractors & monitor contractors
    compliance, communication with authorities
  6. Conducts EHS system audits ( Internal , External ) including
    YFIMS – EHS pillar
  7. Tracks and improvement EHS KPI's and EHS Policy
  8. Tracks & analyze near misses, incidents, injuries and ensure
    that corrective actions are implemented including lagging and leading
    indicators
  9. Leads & update safety/ fire/ ergonomic /environmental 
    hazards/impact assessments, defines and controls corrective measures
  10. Is capable to conduct machine risk assessments and can identify
    gaps and corrective measures
  11. Can lead or support multiple sites departments within a certain
    sub -departments ( SME for different EHS topics )
  12.  Is capable & authorized to act as 2d party EHS auditor
    also for YFIMS - EHS pillar
  13.  Lead management of open Workers Compensation claims or
    other company liability claims.
  14. Lead , develop and manage the EHS team in plant
  15. Cultivated the EHS culture in plant
  16. Tracks, Analyze and improve EHS KPI's
  17. Manages the plants' occupational health provider
  18. Lead certification process according ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001
  19. Communication with representative of Local / Government EHS
    Authorities
  20. Active leading of EHS Risk assessment
  21. Coordinate of Compliance audits and Inspection including
    Insurance Inspections
  22. Active participation during acceptance of equipment - EHS topics
  23. Ensure all new equipment meets all legal and YF requirements
  24. Active Support to the teams for YFIMS and BOS systems
  25. Coordinated Hot Work program in plant
  26. Track and coordinated the LOTO program in plant ( LOTO-Log out
    Tag out )

Specific Requirements:

1. EHS: Follow all defined and communicated
Environmental, Health and Safety requirements.

2. BOS: Learn and execute function-related BOS
and YFIMS requirements.

3. Information Security: Follow defined
requirements for information security and confidentiality of YFAI
information.  

Good technical skills in safety and environmental
matters : 

- Good knowledge of fire protection standards
(like design standards from Insurance company),

- Good knowledge in ergonomic standards like PEIL
or OCRA,

- Good knowledge and practical experience with
the EU machine safety  directive

- Solid knowledge of chemicals including MDI

- Solid basis in occupational health hazards
(noise, exposure to chemicals, vibration, radiation, physical demands and
muscular-skeletal disorders.)

- Excellent knowledge about EHS risk analysis

demonstrates integrity (cfr. reporting)

- can build collaborative relationships

- can coach and lead small working teams

- can manage communication up and down the plant organization

- Observation and communication skills

- Problem solving and analytical skills.

Your Qualifications

Education/Major

Bachelor's Degree in a related EHS field.

Work Experience

  • 5 to 8 years experience in Ergonomics in the industry
  • Content of Health, Safety and Environmental Standards (ISO14001, OHSAS 18001)
  • Content of Health and Safety Regulations of the host country
  • Content of Environmental Legislation of the host country
  • Basic knowledge of NFPA Fire Protection Standards or any other local Fire Protection standard
