EHS Manager

Job Description

    1. Spearheading specific action to assure the plant complies with all federal, state provincial, and local environmental regulations and rules, including those related to occupational health and safety.

    2. Champion the facility’s risk management program through the corporations Business Operating Systems (BOS.)

    3. Ability to work “on-call” for any emergencies that may arise.

    4. Conducts accident investigations and assists with determining root cause and resolution.

    5. Develops and facilitates appropriate and required plant safety training.

    6. Coordinate and teach annual required safety and environmental compliance training.

    7. Evaluate facility for safety hazards and develop proactive strategies to address inefficiencies.

    8. Manage workers compensation claims.

    9. Coordinate safety action plan, ensure continuous implementation and improvement.

    10. Perform duties of environmental management representative under ISO 14001

    11. Administer first aid treatment on minor injuries or illnesses.  Follow up to make sure recovery of injury or illness is satisfactory.

    12. Participates in new hire orientation

    13. Orders all first aid supplies & equipment.

    14. Prepares reports pinpointing re-occurring accidents or illnesses.  Recommends solutions to the unsafe acts or conditions that cause accidents and illnesses.

    15. Maintains accurate records of all occupational injuries & illnesses

    16. Council and assist employees with medical and safety problems

    17. Manages Midwest Health employee care protocol- acute Care Protocol

    18. Facilitates Safety Committee meetings and cross functional activities

    19. Conducts Environmental and Safety audits

    20. Participates in 5S events and activities

    21. Responsible for promoting a safe work environment and preventing injuries through the use of, but not limited to, 5S, job rotation, and ergonomic work practices.  Safety auditing, tracking of audit closure, participating in incident reviews along with writing or assisting in the 8D process and aiding in corrective action closure.  Communication of safety information as necessary and participation in safety meetings and activities is also required

Your Qualifications

4.1             No degree and 10 years experience in a plant environmental health and safety position, or

4.2             2 year degree and 5 years health and safety management experience, or

4.3             4 year degree in occupational health, environment management, or related degree program.

4.4             Familiar with employment laws and regulations (OSHA, EEOC, etc.)

4.5             Experience in workman compensation

 

5.0             Accountabilities

 

5.1             This position reports directly to the Plant Manager

5.2             This position is accountable to the Corporate EHS Manager.
