SMT Quality Engineer

- Interface with customers and provide technical responses to
any reported quality
- Perform root cause
failure analysis, determine and implement appropriate corrective action on
problem areas as identified
- Lead 8D Problem Solving
cross-functional team. Utilize
appropriate tools including 5-why’s, KT methodology, fishbone diagram, Shanin
analysis, and other problem solving techniques.
- Enforce appropriate
quality standards. Create new inspection criteria and/or verify current inspection
results and analyze deviations from expected results.
- Provide verbal and
written communication on quality issues to appropriate functional groups,
customers, vendors and management.
- Create and utilize
FMEAs, Control Plans, PPAPs.
Understanding of customer specific systems and requirements (e.g. Ford
SCCAF) is strongly preferred.
- Incorporate mistake
proofing into process control whenever possible.
- Help maintain TS16949
certification by being knowledgeable of and meeting YF Business Operating
System requirements by following established procedures and work instructions.
- Proactively identify and develop process improvements by
working closely with the manufacturing team
- Partner with process engineer to review new designs and new
products, and help determine the processes and operations required for
manufacturing and testing.
- Understand lean
manufacturing and assist in implementation of lean principles
- Strong technical background in SMT/PCBA manufacturing and Quality
management. Minimum 3-years’ experience working with electronic assemblies
and/or components required.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering from an accredited college or
university preferred. Electrical Engineering degree strongly preferred.
- Familiar with soldering materials, PCBA process and electronics
components, testing & acceptance criteria. Knowledge with or certificate
with SMT, IPC- A600, IPC-A610, IPC-A620, J-STD-001 preferred.
- Motivated by driving Continuous
Improvement programs and application of Lessons Learned.
- Strong understanding of
statistical analysis and problem solving methods and tools. Ability to effectively use Six Sigma DMAIC
process to define, root cause, and resolve issues.
